Shipping
To best save you money, your frame will be shipped back in the same box that you use to ship it to us. If you make every attempt to carefully package your frame* and fork so the better it's packed when we get it the cheaper your return charges will be. Frame boxes are sometimes hard to get, so if you're going to cut down a full bike box, you'll need to follow the guidelines below to avoid "oversize" shipping charges.
USPS, UPS, and FedEx all follow the same general sizing guidelines for standard shipping costs. Measure the length (the longest side) and add it
to the girth (measuring continuously all the way around). You'll want this to be less than 108" for it to be a non-oversize box. Measure
carefully, they will seldom overlook more than an inch or two.
FYI, we'll probably be shipping your frame back by DHL - everyone says they are
cheaper than USPS. Be sure to tell us whether you want a signature waiver on your end. If you can, it might be better to
recieve it at your work - but you'll know best.
A typical frame box is 40" x 24" x either 6" or 8". That calculates out to just 108". If it's 108" it can ship Priority USPS, if it's bigger then it needs to go Parcel Post Oversize and it might cost 50% more plus it takes longer. Now you guys who ride a frame bigger than 60cm or so have a little problem. Your frame needs a bigger box anyway, so your shipping costs either way will be a bit more. Fact of life.
If your frame arrives here in a really crappy or destroyed box, or with inadequate packing materials, then we'll provide a new box and/or new packing materials for an additional charge ...so pack your frame well and it'll be cheaper and you'll get it back faster.
* We'll use your same packing materials too. So, if you want to use one of your blankets or buy one from U-Haul you'll get it back. Hints: Wrap the headtube and seat cluster with a cardboard boot, then wrap your blanket, and finally use some ducttape to tie it all together. Personally, I prefer to wrap a fork in bubblewrap securely and then tape it to the frame - keeps the fork from rattleing around in the box.
